Let me preface this quick post by saying: I think Dej Loaf is so bae and I think Tinashe had one of the best albums out last year (but no one seemed to notice). Oh, and Lion Babe (the daughter of Vanessa Williams) is so…damn…everything.
Now, that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I’ll introduce you to their MAC cosmetics collaboration. MAC gets it.With their “Future Forward” campaign, the three talented singers/rapper joined alongside singer Halsey as the new fresh faces of MAC. From Dej Loaf’s clear, gorgeous brown skin, to Lion Babe’s courageous curls and Tinashe’s baby doll features, the collection is bound to represent their individual beauty effortlessly.“It feels like a great thing to be able to support artists who are breaking through but aren’t necessarily at the top, to push them forward,” James Gager, M.A.C’s Senior Vice President and Group Creative Director, told Billboard.
What’s even more brilliant? MAC tied each musician’s work and image to their signature product.
Tinashe’s 9-palette eye shadow uses her song titles for each shade in the compact. Lion Babe’s Liquidlast Liner is a rich metallic gold, paying homage to her golden tresses she’s donned since her debut. Dej Loaf’s sexy nude lipglass is simple and sultry, sort of like her.
I suggest we support these ladies. It’s becoming clear that brands understand the power of Brown and Black women in media and music. Some of them are catching on. Let’s show them that the need to stay on.
Dej Loaf’s Lipglass will be available April 14th at $15.
Lion Babe’s Liquidlast Liner will be available March 31st at $21.
Tinashe’s Eye Shadow palette will be available March 17th, at $37.
