Let’s talk about dark girls and brown eyeshadow.
We can wear it, and we can wear it well. It’s about the undertone and the complimentary lip and cheek service. For so long, we’ve been taught to steer away from brown shadows. Especially deeper tones. But, brown shadows are one of the staples for fall, and they work for us when we’re looking for a simple nude look.
The point of it, in my opinion, is to create this monochromatic, sophisticated look that compliments and even outs your complexion, while adding a bit of a natural glow. I like the look of the darker shade from MAC’s Studio Sculpt Shade and Line shadow in Apricot Blend (discontinued) on my lids, with two coats of Lancome’s Hypnose Volumizing mascara, sweeps of MAC’s powder blush in Ambering Rose and nude lips. It’s easy-going and effortless, and somehow still super pretty.
Brown shadows feel like the sister to nude lips. They can work at any time, in my opinion. Make brown eyeshadow elegant for a night out with a deep, burgundy lip or dab it on your eyes right before an errand run for an eye-opening casual look.
